Sydne Record

I am a Research Associate at Michigan State University and Harvard Forest, Harvard University. In September 2010 I received my Ph.D. from the Plant Biology Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (adviser: Aaron Ellison). My research focused on the host plant interactions and demography of a rare hemiparasitic plant, Swamp Lousewort (Pedicularis lanceolata Michx.).

Following my Ph.D., I was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Forest working with Matt Fitzpatrick and Aaron Ellison to study the response of temperate forests to climate change on large spatial and temporal scales. I then spent a year teaching as visiting faculty at Smith College. I am now working on a project with Rich Kobe and Andy Finley at Michigan State University while based out of Harvard Forest studying wet tropical forests in Costa Rica. In August 2014, I am looking forward to beginning an Assistant Professorship at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
